Responding to the new Levelling-Up White Paper

gov levelling up

The highly anticipated Levelling-Up white paper, released on 3rd February after two years in the making, has announced 12 ‘national missions’ to be achieved by 2030, including: increasing ‘pride of place’, reducing serious violent crime, raising public development investment and local public transport systems outside of the south-east.

Will these new proposals create the impact needed? Are regional mayors the right people to inspire hope in local people and deliver change? Are the measures adequately funded? Or is this re-dressed top-down politics?
